The Brighton Open Air Theatre (BOAT) has fast become one of the city’s best loved theatre and entertainment venues since it opened with a gala event on 9th May 2015.
That Saturday evening opener was hosted by Flick Ferdinando and featured Nick Pynn, Jo Neary, Simon Evans, Steve Wrigley and Dan Atkinson. Glen Richardson closed the night with a tear jerking rendition of “Days” in honour of the BOAT’s late founder Adrian Bunting.
Over the course of the inaugural season in 2015, the BOAT crew reported that over 7000 people attended shows between May and September. The varied 2015 programme included the Brighton Beach Boys, Bunting’s own play Kemble’s Riot, The Eunuch by Terence and a show celebrating the music of Trumpton.
The Brighton Open Air Theatre is technically in Hove.
