The architect Sir Charles Barry is better known for his work on the Houses of Parliament but he has a decent array of work that can be seen on show in Brighton and Hove. They include buildings at the Royal Sussex County Hospital (that will likely not last much longer) St Andrew’s on Waterloo Street in Hove and St Peter’s Church in Brighton on Grand Parade. He also designed the Attree villa and Pepperpot at Queen’s Park.
St Peter’s, which was built between 1824–28, is currently being renovated and repaired and is under scaffolding. But maybe when complete a new addition will be the spire that it was intended to have. It’s shown above in a book illustration and below you can see the church more recently.
